Indications

• The main indications for vaginal dilators are to treat dysfunctions such as Vaginismus and Dyspareunia.
• They are also indicated to open and give elasticity to the vagina in case of reconstructive surgery.

Disinfection

To disinfect the dilators, it is advisable to rinse with plenty of water before reusing dilators that have been previously disinfected with cold liquid solutions.

Maintenance

After each session, wash the dilators carefully with warm water and mild soap. At the end you must dry them perfectly before being put back in their case for their next use.

Keep them away from all sources of heat and in a cool, dry place.

This set of therapeutic progressive vaginal dilators has been designed with a material whose touch is pleasant, giving a slight flexibility so that its insertion and extraction is easily carried out by the patient.

Instructions for use

Your therapist has recommended the use of this set of therapeutic progressive vaginal dilators. As instructed, start treatment with the smaller diameter dilator. Once inserted into the vagina, you should be aware of a slight sensation of pressure. Gradually, during the period indicated by your specialist, you should use the larger diameter dilators until you feel completely comfortable. Whenever you start an exercise session, do it with the dilator whose diameter you have already exceeded comfortably and without difficulty. It is recommended to create an ideal environment, where the patient is alone, unhurried, comfortable and relaxed, to start treatment. Once you are lying on your back with your legs bent, open and relaxed, the exercises can be started. If needed, you can use a water-based lubricant to make insertion easier. Consult with your specialist if you have any questions.

Before starting the exercises

Practice relaxing the muscles that surround the vagina, known as the pubococcygeus (PC) muscles, by following the steps below:

1. Contract your PC muscle like you're trying to hold your urine for a count of three.
2. Relax . Repeat steps 1 and 2 ten times.
3. Do this exercise, called the Kegel exercise, 2 times a day.

Step 1

Start with the smallest dilator. Using a mirror you will be able to see the genital area. Apply a small amount of lubricant to insert the dilator. DO NOT use petroleum jelly, baby oil, or other oil-based lubricants because they are not water soluble and can be irritating to the vaginal walls. Tense the muscles as practiced and relax them before inserting the dilator into the vagina. Each time you contract the PC muscle, hold the dilator so that it does not slide out. As soon as you are relaxed, push the dilator a little further into the vagina.

NEVER force the dilator to be inserted. When you are relaxed, it will slide off, making you feel slight pressure.

Step 2

Insert and hold the dilator in the vagina for several minutes. Repeat until you are able to hold the dilator for ten minutes without discomfort. You may need to hold the dilator with one hand once inserted so that it does not slide out. Make several attempts over several days of exercise.

Step 3

When the insertion is comfortable and undisturbed, gently rock them from side to side. Slide it in and out. Make several attempts over several days of exercise until you do not feel any discomfort. When you complete step 3 successfully, you are ready to start over with step 1 using the next size dilator.

Contraindications

• Do not use in case you are pregnant or suspect it.
• Do not use in any case if you have a vaginal infection.
• Consult with the specialist before using vaginal dilators.
